Well Done to Louise Kenney and Jocelyn Carthew who are through to the last eight. Elaine Moffat lost at the 19th in the first round to Donna Jackson from Cochrane Castle. Lorna Bennett had a great 5 and 4 win over Claire Hargan (Mortonhall) in the first round but was narrowly beaten by one hole by Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon) in the afternoon. Scotland retained the Mary McKenna Perpetual Trophy by a 1pt margin over their Irish veteran women rivals in a thrilling finish to the annual two-day match. The opening-day programme of four four-ball ties was halved 2-2. The singles were won by Scotland 3˝ - 4˝. Lorna Bennett clawed back an early deficit to square her match and holed a tricky par putt on the last to secure the half-point against Violet McBride. EAST OF SCOTLAND GIRLS - SPRING MEETING - Gullane No. 3 The East of Scotland Girls' Spring Meeting was won by 13 year old Nicky Taylor from Thornton Golf Club with a 77 less handicap of 14 for a Net 63. Nicky, a member of the SLGA Prospects Squad this winter achieved the best scratch score but took the Overall Best Net prize.
