During the evening, Emma Wilson was presented with Honorary Membership of the County in recognition of her contribution to Ladies Golf. 

 

Emma is a past Captain and President of Fife County Ladies Golf Association and has also played for Fife on numerous occasions.  Emma also served on the Executive Council of the SLGA and held the position of Chairperson in 2005. 

 

Well Done Emma - you thoroughly deserve this honour.

 

 

Sheena Campsie received a bouquet of flowers from vice-president, Margaret Steele to thank her for all her hard work as Secretary of FCLGA for the last three years.

 

Myra Muncey from Kirkcaldy took over the position of Secretary at the AGM on 12th October.

 


ESPIRITO SANTO TROPHY - South Africa

 

Scotland go into the fourth and final round of the women's world amateur team golf championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy in joint 19th place in a field of 42 nations.
The Scots scored six-over-par 150 on the third day with a 74 from Krystle Caithness(St Regulus) and a pair of 76s from Jenna Wilson (Strathaven) and Heather MacRae (Dunblane New).
Jenna is the best-placed Scot in the individual rankings, sharing 41st place on six-over-par 222. Heather is joint 47th on 224 while Krystle is 74th equal of 229.

At the end of day 2, Krystle Caithness is lying in joint 78th place with scores of 77 and 78 (11 over par). Jenna Wilson is leading Scot, tied for 29th position with scores of 77 and 69 (2 over par). Heather MacRae is tied for 38th position with scores of 76 and 71 (4 over par).

In the team tournament, Scotland is tied for 18th position with a score of +6. South Africa is in the lead on -11.

This competition is open to all County champions, Divisional champions and Scottish Champions.

Congratulations to Elaine Moffat for winning the SLGA Champion of Champions 2006 with a score of 73.

SENIOR WOMEN'S HOME INTERNATIONAL MATCHES - Hamilton G.C.

 

England won the senior women's home internationals for the fourth year in a row. No other country has won the title since it was first played in 2003.
Scotland finished runners-up with 2pt by beating Ireland 4 ½-2 ½.

HELEN HOLM SCOTTISH OPEN STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Troon

 

The Scottish Ladies Golfing Association has announced that from 2007 the Helen Holm Scottish Open Stroke Play Championship will be played over three days. The dates for 2007 are April 27-28-29. The number of entrants will be increased to 99 for the first two rounds which will be played over the Portland Course on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28. The top 66 and ties will play a further 18 holes over the Championship Course of Royal Troon on Sunday, April 29.


EAST OF SCOTLAND WOMEN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Stirling G.C.


Claire Hargan (Mortonhall) won the East of Scotland Ladies Championship with a round of 70 - three under the CSS.

Stirling & Clackmannan won the team trophy with a total of 217. Fife were third.

EUROPEAN GOLF ASSOCIATION RANKINGS


The European Golf Association rankings are based on points achieved for high finishes in a maximum of four from 15 designated tournaments during the season.  Krystle Caithness is the highest placed Scot in 41st spot. The clear No 1 was Spanish teenager Belen Mozo.

WOMEN'S HOME INTERNATIONALS - Frilford Heath

 

England have won the women's home golf internationals title for the second year in a row and the fifth time in the past seven years. The Scots, who have not won the title since 1991, finished at the bottom of the table. Next year's home internationals will be staged at Dunbar Golf Club.

Fiona Lockhart and Kevin Hastie won the Scottish mixed title by three shots with a gross 73 over the Bieldside course. Fiona and Kevin also won the title at Nairn Dunbar in 2002 - the only other time they have played in the event!

Fiona De Vries (St Rule) won the Scottish senior women's amateur match-play championship beating Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) by 4 and 3 in the final.

Lorna Bennett won the consolation match-play tournament, beating Noreen Fenton by one hole in the final.

Only two of the six Scots in the field - Krystle Caithness and Gemma Webster are likely to survive the cut.
